Gistermiddag verrassingsafscheidsfeest van Dr.Reinier van Twisk,plastisch chirurg. Dit was zijn 21e operatieproject sinds het jaar 2007 en totaal heeft hij 1030 kinderen GRATIS geopereerd. Een meer dan welverdiend feest waarbij meer dan 60 kinderen waren met hun ouders, veel van hen spraken hun dank uit, voerde een dans uit of zongen een lied. Kinderen van 4 jr.tm jongvolwassenen van 22 jaar oud. Het was hartverwarmend om te zien en te horen. Dit zijn de eerste fotos van zijn afscheid. Aan het einde volgde nog een fotosessie met Dr.Reinier van Twisk, het team. Iedereen wilde nog met hem op de foto en terecht.!
10 oktober was de Internationale Dag van de Mentale Gezondheid. Zaterdag 14 oktober organiseerden wij een “markt van emoties” voor de kinderen in onze sociale projecten. De psychologen hadden stands ingericht van diverse emoties, er waren allerlei activiteiten met de kinderen.
Julieta, een 6-jarig meisje met spina bifida, bij ons te verwelkomen in het Spina Bifida Project! Julieta is uit Pullo, Peru, en ze is al eerder geopereerd aan haar spina bifida en hydrocephalus (waterhoofd). Ze is echter nooit onder controle geweest bij een uroloog voor haar urine-incontinentie. We zijn verheugd om Julieta de zorg te kunnen geven die ze nodig heeft, zo zal haar moeder getraind worden om haar te catheriseren, zodat zij droog naar school kan gaan.
Iedere dinsdag houdt Dr.Raul Rodriquez, orthodontist en coordinator van het schisisproject, spreekuur. Onze vaste fotograaf en videoman Pavel Acosta maakte deze ontroerende video en de foto’s.
Maak kennis met drie fantastische mensen die ons allemaal inspireren met hun doorzettingsvermogen en positieve houding. Ontmoet Jhon (22), Cesar (23) en Hugo (25), drie patiënten met spina bifida die ons al sinds hun kindertijd bezoeken. Cesar is momenteel bezig met zijn biologiestudie en Hugo is afgestudeerd als psycholoog en werkt bij ons. We zijn zo trots op alle drie!
