Op donderdag 9 mei j.l. brachten Flor, sociaalwerkster, Maaike en Muriel, medicijnstudenten, huisbezoeken aan Omer, 2 jr.oud., Ikram 7 jr,oud en Mateo 3 jr,oud.

Huisbezoek bij Omer 2 jaar oud, downsyndroom. De familie leeft bij de schoonmoeder. De vader van Omer heeft sinds 11 jaar HIV en moet zelf de medicijnen betalen (terwijl de MINSA zegt een gratis programma te hebben, alleen de medicijnen zijn er nooit). Omer ontvangt bij ons gratis fisotherapie en spraaklessen, heel, heel langzaam gaat hij vooruit.
2. Huisbezoek Ikram 7 jaar oud. Hij heeft sinds zijn geboorte paralisis cerebral, wat veoorzaakt is door zuurstofgebrek bij de geboorte. Daarnaast werd hij geboren met schisis. Ikram loopt niet, praat niet en is geheel afhankelijk van de zorg van zijn moeder. In het afgelopen operatieproject met Healing The Children werd zijn lip gesloten, echter vanwege zijn slechte, algehele gezondheid ook mentaal, ontwikkelde hij na de operatie complicaties waardoor de lip helaas weer opende.
3. Huisbezoek bij Mateo (3 jr,oud). Mateo is geboren met een schisis. hij werd in april jl. in de campagne van Healing the Children geopereerd, zijn lip (dubbelzijdig) werd gesloten. Hij woont met zijn moeder en zijn oudere broer. Zijn ouders zijn gescheiden. De familie-omstandigheden zijn nogal problematisch vanwege economische omstandigheden en huiselijk geweld.
Ralf en Renee (onze twee vrijwilligers) zijn samen met sociaal werkster Flor op huisbezoek gegaan bij Alex, nieuw schisispatientje. Huisbezoeken worden altijd afgelegd om meer zicht te krijgen op de sociale en familiale omstandigheden van het patientje. Zodat we daar ook in de behandeling rekening kunnen houden. Bijvoorbeeld, een alleenstaande moeder met een of meerdere kinderen en zonder inkomen, betekent vrijwel altijd ondervoeding van het patientje. Tijdens een ziekenhuisbezoek zijn deze sociale en familiale situaties niet echt te beoordelen.
Iedere dinsdag houdt Dr.Raul Rodriquez, orthodontist en coordinator van het schisisproject, spreekuur. Onze vaste fotograaf en videoman Pavel Acosta maakte deze ontroerende video en de foto’s.
Over ongeveer drie maanden vertrekken Ralf Bus en ik naar Arequipa Peru. We gaan daar twee jaar aan de slag voor de stichting Paz Holandesa: een stichting die zich inzet om gratis zorg te leveren aan kinderen uit de allerarmste lagen van de bevolking van Peru. Paz Holandesa organiseert drie tot vijf operatieprojecten per jaar, waarvoor medische teams uit het buitenland (o.a. Nederland en Spanje) naar Peru komen. Kinderen ontvangen een volledig behandeltraject inclusief spraaklessen, tandzorg, fysiotherapie en psychologische zorg.
Om de behandeltrajecten te kunnen bekostigen is de stichting voor een groot deel afhankelijk van vrijwilligers en giften. Daarom willen Ralf en ik samen met Ralf’s huidige collega’s bij het UMCG geld ophalen voor deze stichting! Gezamenlijk rennen we een estafetteloop vanaf onze woonplaats Zwolle naar het UMCG bij wijze van Ralf’s laatste werkdag, in totaal 100 km. Met de estafetteloop willen we een bedrag van €10.500,- ophalen. Dit staat gelijk aan de kosten van een volledig behandeltraject voor zeven kinderen.
